We had the privelge of meeting Kati at a wedding last year for one of our dear friends and client's back in Milwaukee. We got to talking and fell in love with her instantly. She had the biggest smile, an amazing spirit about her, and just let off the greatest vibe. After she told us that she was engaged and hadn't found a photographer yet––we prayed to the wedding Gods that she would choose us. And she did!
Nik could not make the wedding so we met him months later, and by no surprise, he was just as fun, loving, and kind as Kati. It was a wedding we were looking forward to all year––and trust us when we say, it did not disappoint!
We cannot wait to share these highlights of their special day!
The day started off with the girls getting ready at a gorgeous hotel in downtown Chicago and the guys got ready at Nik's gym (where they got a great pre-wedding workout in!).
We met a lot of the ladies from the bridal party the year prior and knew they were a blast to work with. They all are so close and vibe so well––they were so much fun and helped kick off the day in the best way possible.
Kati's dress from Ultimate Bride Chicago was the talk of the entire day (and we still have other brides and people bringing it up to us after seeing photos!). The bridal shop told her they had a dress she may like and there was one left. She tried it on and it fit her like a glove. The best way to describe the scenario is the glass slipper with Cinderella. And let it be known––she looked even better than a princess in it!
After their "I do's" we took to the city! We started off at the beach with the iconic Chicago cityscape as the backdrop and made our way into the streets––where yes, we stopped traffic with zero shame. If you want a city wedding with Better Together...you are getting a CITY WEDDING! What are stoplights on wedding day, really??
After bridal party photos we arrived at the big doors of marble heaven. You can imagine our reaction when we walked into this gorgeous venue. Floor to ceiling marble and windows. It was breathtaking.
Just before sunset we snuck out of the marble palace and had some alone time with Kati and Nik. Sunset is our favorite time because the day is so "GO GO GO!" and our couple's are pulled in so many different directions. Sunset is 20-minutes they can escape and have some alone time to really let it sink in they are now Mr + Mrs.
People stopped and took photos of Kati + Nik ALL day. It was really great to watch––couples should feel like super stars on their wedding day. And it was really no surprise they were mistaken for celebrities. I mean come ON, can someone just put them on the cover of Vogue already?!
After an epic grand march with sparklers, showering dollar bills over the crowd, disobeying security guard orders, heartfelt and funny speeches, and tear jerking first dances (which also included an outfit change by our bride...which was so Beyonce...and we loved it!) it was time to get the party started....
It was truly the perfect city wedding. It's one of those days we will talk about forever. Nik + Kati we wish you all of the happiness in the world and are so honored you chose us be such a big part of your wedding day. We cannot wait to work with you more in the months and years to come.
Cheers to Mr + Mrs. Rodriguez!
